Gas is unavoidable for comfortable journeys – for cooking and for warm water. Like any other gas system, the gas system of a campervan needs to be checked regularly. According to ILNAS-EN 1949:2011, the gas system must be checked every two years. If a gas system does not have a valid test certificate, it can no longer be used and the insurance cover is no longer valid. In some countries, a campervan will also be refused entry to campsites. This is done to ensure the safety of everyone on the campsite.

How long is the gas safety check valid for?

The certificate of compliance is valid for two years after a successful gas safety check. However, if a component of the gas system is replaced during this period, then a new check is required immediately to ensure the safety of the gas system. 

What does testing according to DVGW worksheet G 607 mean?

The DVGW is the German Technical and Scientific Association for Gas and Water. This association published worksheet G 607, which defines the rules for testing LPG systems. During this test, the gas system is checked to ensure that it conforms with the European Standard EN 1949. It is then valid throughout throughout Europe. 

The gas safety certificate has expired. What now?
