Gas is unavoidable for comfortable journeys – for cooking and for warm water. Like any other gas system, the gas system of a campervan needs to be checked regularly. According to ILNAS-EN 1949:2011, the gas system must be checked every two years. If a gas system does not have a valid test certificate, it can no longer be used and the insurance cover is no longer valid. In some countries, a campervan will also be refused entry to campsites. This is done to ensure the safety of everyone on the campsite.

This reduces the risk of accidents or damage due to gas leaks, which can result in fires, explosions or poisoning incidents.
  2. Legal requirements: In some countries, a gas safety check is legally required for campervans to ensure that they meet the relevant safety standards. A gas safety can therefore prevent fines or penalties.
  3. Long-term savings: A regular gas safety check can also help owners to save money over the long term, as this allows problems with the gas system can be identified at an early stage and rectified.
  4. Value retention: A gas safety check also helps to retain the value of the California or Grand California. When purchasing or selling a campervan, a documented and up-to-date gas safety check can be a selling point and can achieve a higher selling price.
  5. Peace of mind: A regular gas safety check provides peace of mind for everyone in the campervan. After the check, they can rest assured that the gas system functions properly.

Which Losch garage can I go to for a gas safety check and who will it be performed by?

A gas safety check must only be carried out by a trained specialist. We offer a gas safety check at Garage Losch & Cie in Junglinster and at Garage Losch Truck, Van & Bus in Niederanven.

How long is the gas safety check valid for?

The certificate of compliance is valid for two years after a successful gas safety check. However, if a component of the gas system is replaced during this period, then a new check is required immediately to ensure the safety of the gas system.

What does testing according to DVGW worksheet G 607 mean?

The DVGW is the German Technical and Scientific Association for Gas and Water. This association published worksheet G 607, which defines the rules for testing LPG systems. During this test, the gas system is checked to ensure that it conforms with the European Standard EN 1949. It is then valid throughout throughout Europe.

The gas safety certificate has expired. What now?

The gas system must no longer be operated, as it poses an increased risk for everyone. In the event of damage, the insurance cover may no longer be valid. Furthermore, many campsite operators only allow visitors to rent a pitch if they have a valid gas safety certificate.
